[ Fingers curl over the soldier's hand (he really does love the power just in his hands alone), pulling to support him as he makes his way up onto the overlook, their shoulders brushing as Jack watches the smoldering remainder of the encampment in the distance with a satisfied smirk. This isn't a future he'd seen for himself ever. Not in all his uncle's talks about upheavals and coups, or the rage Silas's dismissal of him burned plots in his mind. Not until he's seen Steve Rogers, now a man who can't so much as remember his name, suspended in ice - timeless.

A smile that's more mild flashes to the man at his side, and as much as they robbed the Winter Soldier, there's still so much left in him. Perhaps not what he started out as, but a life force and a vibrancy nonetheless. ]

I've been having fun since I found you in that bunker.

[ Maybe it's not only his own ambition now. Maybe it's scorching Gilboa's earth with the ones Silas made into pawns. Maybe it's watching poetic justice take care of itself. ]

Do you remember Shiloh at all?

[ His head tilts, light eyes watching the man, and he's well aware of what all Silas took from him. He's also aware he's seen Shiloh before, so he doesn't ask 'have you been to Shiloh'. He has. He's painted the streets before, when Shiloh wasn't so safe and civilized. But Jack isn't sure of what the man was allowed to keep of it. ]

[ The Soldier's blue eyes stared impassively at the carnage ahead of them, head cocking slightly. ]

Yes. For what that's worth.

[ Certain things were left in his head, information they might use again. The most basic, the most vital, and knowing his way around the city was one of those pieces. He'd seen the city in a variety of states, in celebration and in mourning. In wartime and in peace. At it's birth and...well, now. A rebirth, under Jack's reign. Who was to say if it would be better or worse for the change in rule, but it would certainly be changed.

And whether for better or worse, he'd serve Jack. He's free to do as he likes, why wouldn't he do what he knows? What he excels at? And who better to work in the service of than the man who left his cage door open? The Winter Soldier had been a force to be reckoned with when held on Silas's leash, muzzled and hidden away, tightly restrained and held in check. Now all of this was Jack's for the asking. Broken bodies and fire and blood at his whims. Devotion beyond loyalty. Jack had wanted someone to believe in him, in his right to rule, and now the realm's most deadly weapon stood at his side like a faithful war hound.

And of course, violence was not all the satisfaction he could offer Jack... ]
