He leads him away from the desk, towards a door that hard previously been a simply filing cabinet closet, and places a kiss to the side of his face before pulling the door open. It takes a couple steps into a dim room before Jack can reach for a light switch, closing the door behind them. What's revealed is a set of two rooms, a bathroom and bedroom connected by a simple wooden door left open to see passed into the bedroom beyond the bath. Something Jack's been working on since David took the crown. It's simple, and designed to reflect the kind of farm house comfort that David grew up in, albeit with a bit of added decadence, because that's simply how Jack is. The tub is larger than it should be, and the bed frame is more ornate than David likely would have had. but he'd made certain to hire a design who had roots in small, rural countryside, who was familiar with the kind of life David had called home, and misses so dearly when life in Shiloh becomes so demanding and suffocating.
Jack stands behind David, chest pressed to his back and arms draped around his stomach while he rests his chin on his shoulders, allowing him to take in the rooms. He's nervous, wanting this to be perfect for him - a place he can feel at home when Shiloh seems like the farthest place from it. The bathtub is already full and lightly steaming, given Jack started it the moment he got the text from Michelle. There's no maids that come in this room to clean, Jack does it all himself and has the only key to the it hides behind. It's nothing but theirs, and he places a soft kiss with plush lips against the inside of David's collar as he waits for his reaction, with a bit of anxious nerves. ]
I had them redo it four times. [ Jack murmurs against the curve of David's shoulder, his hands over his stomach coming to work at the remaining buttons of his shirt, leisurely parting the fabric and tracing fingertips along the skin beneath. ] Then again, I've never lived in a farm house.
[ He moves David forward a bit, walking behind him in an awkward sort of waddle, because he doesn't really want to let go of him, but guides him toward the doorway that opens up into the bedroom. He'd made a trip to Port Prosperity, bribed his way into Jessie's house with pictures and news and personal phone videos of her son smiling bright and happy. He needed to see David's room, take a picture with his phone, to show to the designer. Jack had wanted so much to give David something to make him feel like he had a familiar, comforting, secure escape.
The room isn't a copy of David's at home, but the style is the same. Not lavish, just an easy kind of homey. There's a window with curtains drawn and what looks like sunlight - of course, not a real window, just a glass with a light made to imitate sunlight, but it's difficult to tell with the curtains pulled. The mattress itself will have something very familiar set as the bed spread - the quilt David had had on his bed at home. It had taken him a good long while of stubbornly arguing and bargaining with Jessie to let him take it, for David. She'd told him that if David missed home, he ought to be allowed to return to it, and Jack told her, no one is holding David there but himself. He knows what good he can do for the nation and he believes in serving the people. And he's damn good at it. Finally, she'd released it to him, and Jack had made sure it didn't have the scent of home washed out of it, just applied straight to the mattress.
Looking the quilt over now, he feels sort of silly for going so overboard, and he smiles a little sheepishly. ] I promised your mother more frequent visits and seeing you on holidays to wrestle that thing from her.
[ the woman drives a hard bargain, but Jack knows where David gets his strength of will from. Jessie Shepherd is a commander of a woman, and loves her son fiercely, that much it obvious. Jack aspires to meet that. ]
