Hal/Huntsman - Conversations with Snow [sfw]

Fandom: Crosscanon - Snow White & The Huntsman/The Hollow Crown
Pairing: Halric + Snow White
Category: A bunch of dialogue
Rating: PG
Warning: Eric being a dumbass
Summary: Snow is annoyed with Eric being a dumbass
The Huntsman had always done a very far amount of traveling around, never really content to stay in one place for too long, not that it particularly bothered anyone. Tabor’s Queen knew his nature and knew he’d come. But it was when he suddenly went missing for a month or so at a time that she began to take concern. Let it not be said that Snow White does not have keen insight, however, as it only took minimal observation of the grumpy Huntsman’s improved mood and the tales he’d have all of the same kingdom to know there was a specific place he was going to, a specific person. It warmed her heart to know and she began worrying over him like a mother hen, also attempting to hand off a pouch of sovereigns to him before he left, and Huntsman, naturally, refusing.
“Just take the coins.” She’d argue, exasperated. It was like trying to enforce something on a pouting child.
“Don’t want your money, Princess.” He walked with little care in his step down the castle halls, apple in one hand.
“Call it an allowance.”
“I’m not your son.”
“Then wages.”
A raised eyebrow tossed over his shoulder. “For what?”
“For being a member of my court.”
A loud snort. “I’m never at your court.” It’s true - Huntsman was the worst court member ever.
“That doesn’t make you not a member. I choose who my court consists of.”
“No.”
“Just take the coins so I know you’re not stranded somewhere begging on the streets for food.”
“I’ve always done fine on my own.”
“No you haven’t.” Said with a tight lipped firmness as he stalked after him.
“Goodbye, Princess.” He’d wave the apple over his shoulder as he disappeared in the direction of the stables. But the coin purse would always somehow find it’s way into his pack one way or another. Sneaky little devil of a woman.
Persistent as she is, she’d meet him even at the gate before he rode out. How she got there before he did he’d never be able to tell.
“And bring whatever friend you’ve made beyond Tabor’s walls here some day.”
“Didn’t make any friends.” Shot back with a roll of his eyes.
“Then where are you always off to and why do you seem restless when you return?”
“None of your business and none of your business.”
“At least give me her name.”
“There’s no ‘her’.” And a smirk, because it’s the truth. He gives his horse a kick and begins to trot out past her.
“Don’t lie to your queen, it’s treason.”
“No, it’s not. And I’m not lying.”
“Eric!” And at that he halted completely - someone the slightly little girl had developed Mom Voice in the short time he’d known her and calling him by his name always means something serious. He blinks at her for a long moment, before watching her break into a smile.
“You will tell me some day.”
He couldn’t help the sweet half-smile that snuck onto his lips, and he gave a bow from the saddle. “Of course, my Queen.”
